Marketing On A Limited Budget

StevenR is a guy I have grown to respect greatly over the past year.

He is a marketing expert and is able to drive thousands of visitors to his niche sites using only Web 2.0 techniques.

We are both members of E1kaD membership site where he posted a great message. I asked permission to send it to you and Steven
(of course) said, “Sure!” :-)

There’s no affiliate link at the end and there’s no contest where I get prize for sending visitors to his free site.

It’s just great information that I wanted you to have! :-)

So take notes, good stuff here….

How To Market On A Limited Budget

I see this question raised a lot, so I thought I’d share a method I have used. This might be helpful for those who are either new or on a limited budget. (By the way, I told people this was Bum Marketing 2.0 some time ago… since it’s similar in concept).

So, here we go…

1. Choose and buy a domain name and cheap hosting that can support a website.

2. Build my “main” site (money site) using my favorite site building tool, WordPress. (I recommend wordpress for reasons specified below).

3. Do keyword research for each product

4. Create content to publish on your site in the form of:

a. Written Review - write an in-depth review of each product.

b. Videos (screen capture) - where I talk about each product and go over their sales page. I would also make sure that I tell people the specifics of why I would or would not buy the product (you can take advantage of Camtasia’s 30-day trial to create these for free). If the videos go over 10-minutes, I would record a shorter version of each as well (needs to be under 10-minutes)

Sidenote:

i. If you aren’t intimately familiar with the product (in other words, if you haven’t been on the “inside”), make sure you read as many reviews as you can for each product before publishing

ii. Be opinionated with your reviews. Don’t take a “middle of the road” stance in the review.

5. Publish the content (both written and video reviews) on my money site

6. Publish the videos on youtube (needs to be under 10-minutes).

7. Re-write my written reviews into 2 - 4 versions of each.

8. Take each of the re-written articles and publish them to content sharing sites:

a. Ezinearticles.com
b. Squidoo.com
c. Hubpages.com
d. Press Release sites

9. Create summaries of each review, then create a blog on Blogger and/or Wordpress and publish the summaries into separate blog posts (with anchor text links back to my money site).

10. I’d make sure to take advantage of social bookmarking sites and bookmark each page I publish.

11. I would submit my “stories” to Digg, Propeller, Shoutwire, Sphinn, marktd, plugim (and any other internet marketing related social bookmarking / voting sites)

12. Ping everything (using a service such as Pingoat or Pingomatic)

Then I’d “Rinse and Repeat” the process with another batch of products (or individual products)

I think it goes without saying that everything should be linking to your “money site”.

By the way, you don’t need to have your own website to do this. If you choose to go the “bum” way, link directly to the products from your pages (on squidoo, hubpages etc.)

Incidentally this is stuff I’ll be covering in my “soon to be released to the public” course over at ArticleMarketingReports.com.

These steps are not totally complete but should get you ways down the road on a limited budget.

I really like this step by step guide,
but i think that adding an “suscribe to
my list” to the equation would it make it
just better.

Yeah, i know that you have to paid about
$20 bucks a month for an autoresponder service,
but having a list is like having a real estate
property, that can produce money without the
extra effort.

Excellent post. If you just follow this plan you should easily be driving traffic to your website. Thanks a lot for sharing this. Great system…

Hi guys, I stumbled on your blog, -thanks so much for sharing so openly some vital steps to marketing on a budget. It would have to be the most asked question, wouldn’t it? Old school internet marketing is all but dead, there is always new ways to get heard, as technology and software improves. Simply “buying leads” is misleading as is bidding on keywords, -too easy to run up the costs. - It seems like we all stumble around in the dark, until a kind-hearted soul like you switches a light on the subject. One really has to do some research on the whys and the hows, before paying blindly to the shonks. Like most I’ve been searching for answers too. Thanks again for sharing your valuable advice.
