How To Get Me To SUBSCRIBE (and stay that way)!

In an earlier post I wrote about ways to make sure that I (and others) will UNSUBSCRIBE from your mail list. If you missed it, you read it below and leave a comment.

Well I hate to be negative, so today I am going to write about ways to get me to subscribe to your list and stay on your list.

I will be the first to admit that I will subscribe to almost any newsletter. I will give almost anyone a shot to earn my business. That may also be the reason I have nearly 5,000 unread emails in my inbox. :-(

But I digress…

Something that is very important for every marketer to understand, regardless of your niche, is that the giving of a persons email address is a SALES PROCESS.

That’s correct! The price someone is paying you in this process is their email address. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that the individual gets their money worth!

With that in mind, here’s how to get me (and others) to subscribe and stay that way:

1) Provide incredible value.

I’m no dummy and I can smell recycled PLR a mile away. So offer a piece of software, unlimited updates, an original report. If it is quality, people will give you a try.

Once someone is one your list, treat each email as if it were a “mini” product. Give that email all the attention and focus you would to any other product you would create.

2) Have personality!

It is sometimes difficult to convey your personality unless you are a real good writer. But try!

One of the things I love about Travis (The Bum Marketer) is how he conveys his personality in his writing.

3) Have variety!

Some times send an email. Sometimes a video. Have some short messages. Others long. Variety!

4) Be Consistent!

I know the first week of each month I will get an email from Allan Garynde. Twice a week I will get something from Travis. And every Friday (like a clock) I will get an email from Dennis Becker about all the new things going on at the greatest membership site in all of internet marketing:

Being consistent is an area that I am working on myself. :-)

Using these techniques will help you keep most of your subscribers you have worked so hard to get.

I’m going to continue on the theme of mailing lists next week also and share with you how I set up my different lists as well as some other good information!

Dive In!

Hi,

I agree with you about keeping me on any list, but you left out a couple:

1. Use a spell checker.
2. Don’t email me every day, much less several times a day, ’cause I get to thinking of you as a “junk mailer”. If you’re on my junk-mailer list, I may stay on your list for a while, but I won’t take you seriously.
3. Don’t try scare tactics, religion, politics, or foul language to get my attention. I’ll be off your list and won’t buy anything you have a hand in, at least, not knowingly.

If I signed up for a list, it is because it was required in order to receive something offered or because I liked something about your site and think I can learn something from you. Either way, do me the courtesy of not taking me lightly.

Best wishes,
Linda
