He Actually Sent This To Me!
I was notified the other day that I had a new comment to approve on my blog and so I went to check it out.
Now, I don’t know this individual, but below is his message in full and then I am going to comment on it below….
I have your videos on AWeber. I too thought they would convert.
I sent them to my list of a mere 700 (hit a brick wall 4 months ago and not one sign up since) but not one click. I’m not surprised - I’ve been emailing offers since October 07 and still have sales of $0 from the list.
The money is in the list - yeah, right - and pigs fly.
I have no idea what PLF2 is - some guru thing I guess.
I also have no idea what a product “launch”is. You build a page -upload it and hope someone will buy - that seems to be it.
Oh well - the rich do things a different way to us peasants.”
And now for my commentary. 
First of all, I haven’t decided if I’m going to approve the comment or not. The guy may have been having a bad day or real frustrated or whatever…
So let me start here when he says:

Well, 700 isn’t “mere”. It is very possible to make some good money with a list this size DEPENDING ON YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM. But if you have it in your head that it is a small list, then it will perform like a small list.
If you suddenly stopped getting optins 4 months ago, SOMETHING IS WRONG. Find out what the problem is and SOLVE IT. It might be as simple as your software stopped working.
Also, how did you obtain this list? Were they optins? Co-reg? Have you communicated with your list other than with offers? People don’t like to be treated like ATM’s!
Did the mailing even get to them? Who is your autoresponder system? Have they whitelisted themselves with all the major ISP’s? There could be lots of reasons here…

You’ve been emailing offers but have you been emailing USEFUL CONTENT?! If you’re “not surprised” then also remember this…WHATEVER YOU FOCUS ON GROWS!
I stated way back in January that my major focus was going to be list building. Every product I have made, every post I have made, every email I have sent has been with that goal in mind. Since then I have added 2,500 to my IM list in the past four months and I am not doing anything special.

It’s also about attitude. You attract what you think about!
My list is a group of amazing people! I seldom mail out an offer and when I do it is something that will help GROW their business not distract them. For this reason when I send out an offer it is no surprise that 17-20% make a purchase.
The money isn’t in the list! The money is in your RELATIONSHIP with your list. BIG DIFFERENCE!!

This is a sign of trouble. If you are going to be involved in a market then you need to be up to speed about the happenings of that market. Pet peeve of mine…

hmmm… The “If you build it, they will come” marketing hasn’t worked since ‘94. Maybe not even then. It requires WORK.

Yes, they do. That’s WHY they’re rich. But you know what else? The rich also THINK differently.
The author of Proverbs said it best in my favorite Bible verse: “As a man THINKS in his heart, SO IS HE”
Here is the part though that I want everyone reading this to understand:
Be honest with ourselves for a second… what this gentleman wrote IS NO DIFFERENT than what many of us say to OURSELVES everyday! He just had the courage to write it!
And it is this type of thinking that is one of the major causes for us not having the level of success that we want. It’s time to change that! If we are not getting the results we want, we have to change what we are doing!

If you are not making money online then try this..
Do ONE THING…TODAY that will DIRECTLY result in a deposit into your bank account. Anything else is just screwing around.
Quit giving yourself BS excuses! Everything you need to make $$ online is already on your hard drive.
Isn’t that why we’re here?

PS- Sorry about my rant. This is something I’m REALLY passionate about in case you can’t tell. I am seriously considering putting together a step by step course showing part-timers how to make 1-2 grand a month part time like I do, but I’m not sure yet. I honestly don’t know if people would be interested because its not “HOW TO MAKE 17 GAZILLION DOLLARS IN 3 MINUTES” kind of stuff.

I have a great idea for a product!
This product is going to be awesome and is going to make me MILLIONS!
I quickly hop over to freekeywords to do some research. While there I notice that they have a 7 day FREE trial to WordTracker. I decide that if I’m going to be a big “guru” in this nice I need to have guru tools and so I sign up for the trial. Then I check my email to confirm my address, while there I see an interesting from __(insert name of any marketer here) about a membership site!
PERFECT! That will fit in exactly with my product and help me make even more $$! So I sign up for the membership site. Boy, lots of stuff in this membership site! I really need to get a grasp of all the information here if my product has any chance of being a success!
COOL! The membership site has some free software for me to try. I download and install it right away. Hmmm, it seems something is wrong. The software doesn’t work so I check out the support link.
Ok, support is a help desk so I need to register for it. I do so and fill out my problem.
Time to check my email to see if I sold anything….nothing. Rats.
While in my email I see an offer for an awesome set of sales templates! The other 4,712 templates I have just won’t cut the mustard with my new product. So I quickly buy them.
Hmmm… the templates are beautiful but I need to be able to edit them. I can’t afford Photoshop (yet!) so maybe there is a free Photoshop “like” program out there. I jump over to Google to find out.
Yes! There is an alternative to PS. I quickly download and install it. Rats, it’s running real slow. I really need to add memory to this computer if I am going to be serious about my online business.
My wife asks me how I am doing. I tell her, “fine.” It drives me nuts when she distracts me like that!

While in my email I see that a help desk has sent me a reply. What was that software I was having trouble with anyway? Oh, now I remember! I have to download a new copy of the software. No problem, I return to the membership site to download it and..COOL a video course! I really should learn the things in this video first before I work on my product.

188 sales in 48 hours using PLF2—-Here’s how
I came VERY close to buying PLF2.0 last month, but at the last minute I decided not to. I just couldn’t afford it. Instead I decided to do a test. You see I had read a lot of posts both here and on E1kaD about the hype around PLF2 and the videos that Walker provided and that the process he was using was nothing but hype as well.
I saw it differently. To me the free videos that Walker provided were pure gold. I carefully watched them multiple times and also studied the process he used. In addition, I ran across several audio interviews from Liz Tomey and Jeff Dedrick that they were using to promote PLF2 as well. These audios were amazing and contained outstanding information.
I decided to challenge myself and use the methods/techniques I learned from Jeff’s videos and Tomey’s audios to do a product launch. I have made products in the past and have had some good success in the past. So I was curious to see how much of a difference it would make.
I recorded 14 short video tutorials on how to use Aweber. I determined this was a need because of the number of posts I saw on WF and other boards regarding this tool.
I then contacted three forum friends whom I knew had IM mailing lists and invited them as JV affiliates. The total combined subscribers on these lists was about 16,000.
The plan was that I would release one video early in the week for people to preview and then another two days later. I set up a squeeze page in order to get access to the video. Those who confirmed were redirected to a blog that had the video posted. During the next two days of promoting the free video the squeeze page converted at 60.4% and 316 opted in and confirmed their email.
I uploaded the next video. I then sent an email to all the lists about the availability of the second video. Using Kern’s suggestion, the second video I shared was ,imho, the best of the 14 and 64 more optins followed that day. The videos received a total of 543 psge views during the three day prelaunch.
It was then announced that the Sales page for the full 14 videos would be available on Thursday at noon for a price of only $7. On Thursday emails were sent to all lists about the availability of the videos. Of course Papal selected that day to have some major issues and the first 20+ orders got messed up.
For those that had issues I sent them an alternative download link as well as an additional eBook that I currently sell for $17 as a bonus for their troubles. After the initial issues with Paypal, all went well. The sales page was converting at a robust 23% . As of this writing there have been 246 sales for $2,100 in a little more than 72 hours.
I am receiving numerous requests for people wanting to be affiliates for which I have granted. This affiliate traffic has not gone through the “Pre-launch” routine and so the sales page is converting at a much lower rate but still overall it sits at 19.4%
***Some things I learned/Notes:
While the process was very effective, I wouldn’t do it again for a $7 dollar product. It was a lot of work!
I wish I had come up with a way to track the sales conversion of those that had opted in and saw the preview videos vs. those that didn’t. That would have been interesting.
I need to get a help desk set up. As much of a pain as they are, it’s not worth losing a customer because you never got the email that they were having issues.
I neglected to put a support email address on the pages and that caused a couple of problems, but not many.
I was very pleased to see that my three affiliates made money. That made me as excited as if I had been the one making it!
There are lots of other things I could have done or prepared better for. But money loves speed and I didn’t want to wait any longer to gt the product out.
Overall it was a great launch and a great experience. All this from using information found in the free videos and audios that were released before PLF2.
Hype? Maybe. But the proof is in the bank account and with the satisfied customers.
